If you are looking for inspiration for a classic and vintage wedding, you need to see this wedding. I was so excited to photograph Tempesst and Alix’s wedding in the beautifully ornate Sioux City Orpheum! From it’s chandelier’s to the amazing marquee I had so many ideas in my head. I was excited to shoot something that was a little different from what I normally shoot, so I could experiment a little bit. I was also excited to photograph the day for Tempesst and Alix because they would be celebrating with a Jewish ceremony, which I had never had the pleasure of photographing before. It was so cool to be able to see a different type of ceremony and I loved to see the traditions.
As far as details go, Tempesst had it all. Badgley Mischka shoes, her mother’s pearls, a beautiful rosary belonging to her grandmother and an amazing vintage 1946 dress. The dress she wore for the photos and ceremony belonged to her grandma, who can’t wait to show the pictures to her bridge club, so I’m told. At the reception, Tempesst did a reception dress that was giving me such 50’s vibes, especially after she swept her hair up into a ponytail. I knew we had to get some spinning shots in the dress under the marquee and I squealed when I saw the result.
Ok, enough chitter chatter, let’s get to the photos!

We chose Bethany after having compared her style to numerous others across the internet. Holding similar photos side by side for weeks on end, we simply could not find another photographer that matched the cleanliness and natural looks that Bethany had mastered. Time and again we found so many photographers that made everything unbelievably dramatic, we were so grateful once we stumbled upon her website.
Beyond photography, she also made taking pictures for our special day an absolute breeze as she and her assistant took charge. Also, while they coordinated the masses of family members and wedding participants for photographs they managed at times to simply disappear and capture truly natural, un-posed moments of joy and celebration. We did not know this until looking through the photographs afterwards and realized that they captured so much more than what we were aware. These are photos and moment that we will cherish for the rest of our lives, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. If you are looking for a good photographer to capture the simple beauties and complex moments of your special day, Bethany is the one to go with hands down!!
Thanks again for everything you did that day, Bethany and Kylie, you exceeded our greatest expectations and produced our first family heirloom! <3
